the elephant man

No other movie has affected me as much as this one. It is a terrible yet beautiful story about the life of John (Joseph) Merrick. I am not able to comment any more. Just go and see it. Hopefully you'll learn something as well. Like the fact that we are all really so incredibly stupid and ungrateful.

"Tis true my form is something odd,
But blaming me is blaming God.
Could I create myself anew,
I would not fail in pleasing you.
If I could reach from pole to pole,
Or grasp the ocean with a span,
I would be measured by the soul,
The mind's the standard of the man."

A poem by Isaac Watts that Joseph Merrick would use to end his letters.

The Elephant Man (1980) by David Lynch, starring Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt.

This is a movie based on a true story. I don't know. Maybe there is a book about this man as well.
